TCAF 2013: May 11th and 12th

Hi everyone,

My name is Christopher Butcher, and I’m the Festival Director of TCAF–The Toronto Comic Arts Festival. I’m quite happy to announce that the next Toronto Comic Arts Festival will be held on Saturday May 11th and Sunday May 12th, 2013, at Toronto Reference Library, with the support of Presenting Sponsor Toronto Public Library and Premiere Sponsors The Beguiling & Little Island Comics. Our thanks to our partners for coming through again to make TCAF a reality.

Saturday May 11th and Sunday May 12th return us to our preferred dates of Mother’s Day weekend, a slightly less-crowded time on the burgeoning convention calendar, and also minimize the likelihood of counter-programming some of the other major Toronto festivals and events, including Hot Docs 2013 (April 25-May 5) and Toronto Underground Market. In short, we’re very happy with these dates, and the focus they’ll allow us to bring to Toronto’s & Canada’s amazing cartoonists.

We can also happily announce that our day of Librarian & Educator programming will return on Friday May 10th thanks to the support of Toronto Public Library & The Beguiling Library Services, with details to be announced this fall.

TCAF 2013 will be the festival’s tenth anniversary, and we will be marking the occasion with an even bigger and more robust program than ever before. Things will get underway on March 29th with the TCAF 10th anniversary party (the first TCAF was held on March 29th, 2003, at Trinity St. Paul’s Centre), and then lead-up events will continue through April and May before the festival dates. We’re quite excited about everything in store for 2013, and we hope we can count on the support of our sponsors and partners, the international comics community, and all of the wonderful attendees from Toronto, from Canada, and from abroad, that have made our past festivals such a success.

I hope to see you in Toronto next May.

Sincerely,

- Christopher Butcher, Director, TCAF
