TCAF Welcomes Featured Guests: Krosoczka! Peeters! Boulet!
TCAF welcomes featured guests Frederik Peeters, Jarret Krosoczka, and Boulet!
Things have been a bit quiet from TCAF HQ for the past week or so, but that’s only because there are so many exciting announcements coming down the pipeline. If you’ve been wondering “Who else is coming to TCAF?” or “What books are debuting?” or “What kind of programming or events will there be?”, then this is the post for you! Because…
TCAF is proud to announce new Featured Guests
Jarrett Krosoczka: Creator of the wildly popular Lunch Lady series of comics. Krosoczka’s work has twice won a Children’s Choice Book Award, and was nominated for a Will Eisner Comic Industry Award. In the summer of 2013, Jarrett will have his chapter book debut with the publication of Platypus Police Squad: The Frog Who Croaked. Jarret will be appearing on Saturday Only (May 11th). (USA)
Frederik Peeters: Author/Illustrator behind books like Blue Pills, Lupus, RG and Koma, and Pachyderme. He has been nominated at Angouleme in the best book category five times. Peeters is debuting the North American version of Sandcastle with publisher SelfMadeHero. (Switzerland)
Boulet: Prolific French cartoonist, known for the blog Bouletcorp, established in 2004. Seven volumes of his blog have been published to date, entitled Notes. Since 2009, Bouletcorp has been translated into English. Boulet is appearing as part of his North American tour to promote the English-language version of The Darkness, published by AdHouse Books. (France).
These three cartoonists join a fantastic and diverse array of Canadian and international cartoonists who will make up the 2013 Festival. For more information, please visit the Featured Guests page.
Can we please give a big, warm TCAF welcome to the following cartoonists, and a big thank-you to the publishers/collectives who are bringing them to the festival: Patrick McEown with SelfMadeHero, Lauren Barnett with Hic and Hoc, Dennis Lo with Bento Comics, Patrick Alexander with the Caravan of Comics, and T Edward Bak with Domino Books. For more information and bios, please visit the full Exhibitor List.
Is there a World Record for Number of Amazing Books Debuting at a Comics Festival? If so, then we’re about to beat it. Here are 4 new titles that are set to launch at TCAF 2013:
- Sandcastle by Frederick Peeters (SelfMadeHero)
- Supermag by Jim Rugg (AdHouse Books)
- Strong Eye Contact by Christopher Adams (2D Cloud)
- Island of Memory by T Edward Back (Floating World Comics)
Do you have any books, comics, or zines you’re looking to debut at the festival? Let us know! We’d be happy to incude it in our Debuting Books section.
Call for Programming: Do you have the long-held desire to get up in front of a room to talk about your work or about things you find interesting about comics to an audience of your dearest friends, your professional colleagues, and (mostly) people you don’t know at all? Or do you want to see other people get up and do that for the benefit of all? If your answer is yes, tell us! If you have ideas for this year, please send us e-mail about it to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, March 22nd.
Cancelled: We’re sorry to say that John Porcellino and Tom Humberstone have had to cancel their appearances at TCAF 2013.
