Keep TCAF Free For All!
TCAF is proud to champion comics as a vital art form: In this political climate, protecting the arts as a source of revolutionary self-expression and source for solidarity has never been more important.
But like so many nonprofit arts organizations in our city, TCAF is experiencing financial challenges. Our new venue is an exciting opportunity for us to reach new audiences, but it also comes with significant new expenses. As a largely volunteer-run festival with no full-time staff members, raising these funds has been an intense sprint.
Meanwhile, the rising cost of living has hit our comics community hard: Through our Access TCAF program, we offer table space free of charge to artists from groups that have been historically disadvantaged and marginalized, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) persons with disabilities, and those who identify as women and/or 2SLGBTQ+.
In previous years, less than 5% of creators applied to the Access TCAF program. In 2025, 45% of creators did. This need dramatically exceeds our resources.
TCAF is about more than just comics. It’s about building a space where people of all backgrounds can connect over a shared love of art, creativity, and storytelling.
